Ride to Asotin and through town staying on the main road. This is an out and back course but you can turn around at anytime. Typically we turn around at 10 mile bridge or at Buffalo Eddy (see the picture above). You can go all the way to Heller Bar if you don’t mind riding 3 miles of hard pan. You probably won’t want to go that far in any case. This is mostly flat with some low rollers. It is beautiful along the Snake. This can be a hot ride and there is no water available even at Heller Bar.
The cattle guard bridge at 10 mile has been removed but as of February 2011, only a temporary one lane bridge exists and you must ride over dirt for a bit to get past the construction for the new bridge.
Traffic can be a problem if you are doing this during fishing season or early evening in the summer when the kids are driving down to go swimming. Most of the rest of the time traffic will be light but it is narrow and has no shoulders. You can go as far as you are capable of riding back, but fair warning, usually you’ll will have a head wind on the return trip.
