Current Ridership

Chris is blowing us away.

Helen and Sherri are in a battle for the lead.

If you've ridden and I've missed it please let me know.

Rules of the Road

  1. Board members are ineligible but you have to be a dues paying TRCer.
  2. Rides must be posted on the club calendar or have been included in Corrie's weekend ride invitation.
  3. The last ride that counts will be our annual trip to Joseph, Oregon.
  4. You do not have to complete these rides. All you have to do is show up with a bike, ride a portion of the course, and enjoy yourself. Do check in with the ride coordinator so you will be counted.

Swing a leg over that saddle and shed 20 lbs and 30 years. Suddenly you are free. Nothing to do but make those pedals turn and remember to turn around and come home again at the end of the day.

Wind buffets you a bit; you hunker down into the drops and wait for that spring sunshine to come out. Slather on sunscreen, strip to shirt sleeves and shorts, and spin those wheels. Rubber tires make a soft whoosh against smooth pavement and you stand to climb swaying side to side.

Well most of us love to ride.

The whoosh, clearly audible now, speaks of your power. At the top you pause, still standing, your pedals held even. You breathe in fresh air; your chest swells; your quads go wooden for a moment and then you are going down. You shift to the top chain ring, lean over the handlebars and study the line on that curve ahead.

Whether you're 15 or 75 the bicycle puts you in control. You cover distances you'd have thought unimaginable before the bicycle. A flock of geese scurry out of your way save one hissing drake; a dog strains at his leash, jealous of your freedom. Sunlight dances on water; birds sing; leaves and grasses quicken, green, and turn golden. All for your pleasure.

And yet, it all seems hollow for you are alone.

Don't ride alone. Come join the rest of the Twin Rivers Cyclists for one of many rides.

No excuses, please. You can keep up. We never leave anyone behind.

Come out; give us a try. You've paid your membership. Now take advantage by meeting with the rest of us. You'll find someone who rides at your pace. And soon you, too, will be climbing and whooshing and frustrating dogs everywhere.

Did we forget to mention
how much we like to eat?
