1.  Paper Work
a.  Reserving Hell's Gate Park
1.  Arrange to use the hunting and heritage center
(the building in the park we use).
2.  Write to the Corps of Engineers for permission to use the park
(they own the land, the state leases part of it for the park, but part of the course is outside the leased area).
b.  Marketing the event,
1.  Update the website
2.  Registering with NORBA
(Bill Wycoff's wife is the representative, she did a great job of handling all of that last year)
3.  posters, flyers, mailing,
4.  notifying other mountain biking clubs
c.  Preparing on-line registration
(if desired; this worked well last year and should be simple to re-up)
d.  Post race paperwork:
1.  Database of racers for marketing
2.  NORBA results forms
3.  write thank you's.
2.  Acquring materials
a.  Materials for the packet
1.  numbers,
2.  twisties for attaching numbers,
3.  waiver for TRC,
4.  day license forms,
5.  annual license forms,
6.  registration forms,
7.  pens, change
b.  Course Marking Materials
We borrowed the course marking materials, tables, water jugs, results board, and some other misc. race supplies from the Palouse Road Runners the past two years. Worked great. Need to arrange this, pick up, and return.need more ribbon, maybe stakes...
c.  Having a jug of sport drink,
water is something we haven't had but might be nice as well as some cookies or munchies while people are waiting around for the awards. (We could also make money selling food if anyone was so inspired)
d.  Solicit sponsors
e.  Picking up swag
f.  Getting medals
for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place for each category men & women and age category for
g.  (cash payback to pros (no medal), expert, sport, beginner
h.  flyers,
i.  posters to printers;
j.  snacks etc.;
k.  awards;
l.  numbers;
m.  tshirts or other giveaway if desired (also must be designed...);

and getting markers off the course after the event (at least 4 people)

5.  Solicit and organize volunteers
a.  Pre-race

1.  Pre-cleaning the facilities
has been needed in the past as well as spare toilet paper, soap, paper towels
2.  Course Marshalls
Adequate number of people to marshall and time the course the day of the event (6 minimum)
3.  Registration
At least 2 people for registration
4.  Timers/Scorekeepers
At least 2 people timing
c.  Post-Race
1.  Course marker removal
2.  Clean up rest rooms
and getting markers off the course after the event (at least 4 people)
6.  Respond to racers' questions (email and phone)
